Playback doesn't seem to work consistently -  I beleive it is meant to work when you select the any of the playback buttons or playback in the timeline with the hotkey.

Since this is such a commonly performed task it might be good to get on this right away.

I think you work on windows.

Problem is known for all Kdenlive Windows versions. Root cause not found so far. Work around: hit space and the arrow key right.

Or you change in the settings: Hit CTRL+SHIFT+, -> Environment -> Process treads -> 2 or higher. This solves the bug but this block other functions.

If Kdenlive seems blocked as you descript hit CTR+Space. Now the play heat starts from beginning and you can click with the mouse into the timeline to play from there.

Ones Kdenlive crashes with clicking into the timeline please post the error message from the event viewer: windows+r -> eventvwr -> check the error messages with Kdenlive.
