I got the error in the attached screenshot.

I am on Ubuntu 18.04

I ran:

sudo chmod -R 777 ~/.local ~/.cache

I think it was a permissions problem, but it is strange, my user should have access to everything in ~/.local and ~/.cache, perhaps kdenlive is writing folders in there with the wrong permissions settings.

Can you test with the latest version and see if you can reproduce? Please close the issue if you can't.
