Description Nina 2018-08-17 07:47:40 UTC
When rendering a clip to its existing filename it gives the usual "filename exists do you want to continue" type message. But continuing seems to cause it to delete the file when it actually needs it to continue. It looks like it is rendering but then hangs and needs to be killed.
Suggest you just change pop-up to not allow an option for rendering to the same filename.

You are saying that Kdenlive starts rendering with deleting the existing file first (with the same name) but then Kdenlive stop rendering and seems to hang?

This means the render indicator doesn’t move anymore?

How long do wait before you have killed Kdenlive?

Do you get any error message?
Comment 2 Nina 2018-08-17 08:12:11 UTC
I get "Warning Output file already exists. Do you want to overwrite it?"
then it looks like it is rendering.
The previous 2 times it has hung, and a waited about 10 mins the first time before killing. This time it didn't hang!
All times it appears to have rendered but actually deletes the video. The file is still there in video format but is 0 seconds long.

Please run Kdenlive from console and post the output here (command: “./Kdenlive*.AppImage”). See here as well: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=265&t=130342

Do you run the AppImage?
Comment 4 Nina 2018-08-17 14:09:24 UTC
I'm still getting the same problem running from terminal window. There were pages and pages of output. Application crashed a couple of minutes later.

I'm going to leave this and just not try to render a clip back to its filename.

As it has been a while since this was reported, can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved.

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 20.12.2 https://download.kde.org/stable/kdenlive/20.12/linux/

My current version is 20.04.0, I think this is the latest version as I'm on Ubuntu and it updates automatically.

No,the current Kdenlive version is 20.12.2. You have to use the AppImage or the PPA from https://kdenlive.org/en/download/.
