Hi, i recently needed to change the wlan mac on my laptop (Kubuntu 18.04). This used to work on that machine a few years ago. This time when I change the mac in plasma-nm, the connection simply fails. Journalctl shows no error messages, it simply tries to connect a few times without success. If I do establish the connection manually (shell), it works. Out of curiosity I gave gnome a try instead of KDE (same session), there mac change works flawlessly as well. Since I updated Kubuntu a few times, I tried the same at my office machine (fedora 28): Same thing: Mac change via nmcli works like a charm, as do the random Mac options. If I change the MAC-addr in KDE via plasma-nm, connection fails. Happens with both, encrypted and unencrypted wlan connections. Out of curiosity I tried the same with a Debian live Image (latest weekly KDE build): Same thing here. Regards, Henning
plasma-nm has issues but I thought it was limited to "special" cases like VLAN.

Hi and thanks for the bug report, and I'm very sorry we weren't able to get to this until now. A lot has changed since the issue was reported; can I ask you to check and see if it still happens in Plasma 6.3.5 or later? Thanks a lot!

Hi Nate, I am very sorry for the delay, I was extremely busy lately (moved abroad etc.), therefore I simply forgot. Sorry! I didn't use a recent KDE version until now, but that seemed to be a good reason to "pre update" :-) my Debian machine from stable to Trixie (Plasma version 6.3.5): As of now, the problem seems to be solved! I didn't check more sophisticated stuff like scan-rand-mac yet, but the simple MAC change via Network-Manager now works flawlessly. Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much for following up! Glad to hear it's fixed.
