Gwenview sometimes delays when opening an image file. There's no specific image file, it's random.

> Gwenview sometimes delays when opening an image file. I'm not really sure what you mean by that, could you be more specific? For example: - How are you opening the image? - What is delayed exactly, opening of Gwenview, opening the image, displaying the image, general unresponsiveness of the whole computer? - Do you experience the delay also when switching to that image? > this image seems to consistently cause Gwenview to lag I don't notice anything wrong with that image, for me it's opening fine just like any other image really.
> How are you opening the image? Both double-clicking it in Dolphin and opening it through a terminal cause the same issue. > What is delayed exactly, opening of Gwenview, opening the image, displaying the image, general unresponsiveness of the whole computer? Gwenview opening. Switching between images works fine and the Gwenview program is snappy afterwards, but opening Gwenview seems to slow down. > Do you experience the delay also when switching to that image? No. Switching images works fine once the program is opened. I initially thought it was that image, then I widened the scope to images that were on a 1TB HDD mounted in my home folder as opposed to my SSD mounted at /, but it seems to happen with every image on my PC. After a reboot, the problem seems to have gone away. I'm going to see if it happens again after prolonged uptime.
If a restart of Gwenview does not fix the issue, but a restart of the computer does, I'm pretty sure Gwenview cannot be at fault. Sounds like excessive swapping or high CPU usage to me, you might want to check with KSysGuard. Also double-check whether other apps are affected too, e.g. by opening an image in Okular. I'm closing this for now, but feel free to reopen and possibly change the Bugzilla product once you have more certainty on what component is causing the issue. In that case a video recording might be helpful, and looking at it with gdb.
