Description Holger 2018-08-07 09:19:23 UTC
When I create a zip archive with ark and I enter a password in order to protect the zip file, I am not being asked for this password when I extract the file again. The compresed file gets extracted without asking for password.

What I do:
    1. Start ark
    2. Click Archive – New in the menu, use file type .zip
    3. Enter a zip file name
    4. Enter a password in section password protection
    5. click okay
    6. then add a file by drag and drop from dolphin to the archive
    7. Close the archive
    8. open the archive again and extract the content – but there is no request to enter the password, file gets just unpacked.

I just tested this and it works on my setup :)

I have tested with both the zip plugin and with the 7zip plugin.

I am using ark both from latest master.

Can you reproduce the problem?

Can you provide more details?

Can you enable some debug?

I use tumbleweed, up to date installation.

I can reproduce it, always the same behavior.

It is even the same on another device (also tumbleweed)

Funny thing: it works, when I use the context menu to create an encrypted zip archive. And it also works, when I use the button in ark "add file", but not with drag and drop.

Providing more details is difficult since there is just nothing (no error message, ...) Therefore debugging seems to be difficult as well. I even don't know how to, I am not really familiar with debugging.

Hi Holger,

thanks for the updates. I will try and see if I can reproduce the issue on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

If you find any other relevant information, please make sure to update the bug report.

Thanks :)
