Description kiv 2018-08-01 14:17:37 UTC
When printing with default options from Okular it works but produces 31% bigger image on the paper and some of the image what get out from the sheet get missing.
When choose the option Enforced Rasterisation it prints as expected (without enlargement and 100% of the document image is on paper as expected)

Also it is very annoying this need users to check the enforcing rasterization option every time when printing is needed.
People forgot to check it and need to waste their printout the 31% enlarged page images.

Please if you can not remove this bug with the default setting, at least try to make possible if users choose the enforcing rasterizatipn option this option to stay checked permanently instead to be lost after every print job.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understood correctly what exactly is happening, so could you please get a bit more into detail?

1) If I understood correctly, the original document (or part of it) is enlarged in some way so that not all of it fits on paper any more. Is this correct?
(To my knowledge, documents are usually scaled to fit on the page, so while this might involve enlargement - s.a. bug 336617 - this should not cause any content to disappear).

2) Does it happen for all documents or just specific ones? Can you please attach a sample document that demonstrates the issue?

3) What is the original document size and what is the page size you are printing to?

I have added a PDF file with some pictures to explain the case.
But let me answer also on the questions.
1) If I understood correctly, the original document (or part of it) is enlarged in some way so that not all of it fits on paper any more. Is this correct?

    Yes, this is correct.

(To my knowledge, documents are usually scaled to fit on the page, so while this might involve enlargement - s.a. bug 336617 - this should not cause any content to disappear).

2) Does it happen for all documents or just specific ones? Can you please attach a sample document that demonstrates the issue?

As far I have checked it happen on all documents. But had no chance to check it on many hardware printers.

3) What is the original document size and what is the page size you are printing to?

Sorry I press a wrong button on the keyboard and answer had been send before to finish. So I need to follow here.

3 Question answer

The original documents we have checked have been prepared on A4 format.
And we attended to print it on A4 paper.

As a simple document, you may use the attached here explanation. It is prepared in LibreOffice.

Mean time many patches have been applied by openSUSE, so I need to check again if this issue may be improved.
If this problem will disappear after the patches I will inform here.

Thanks for the update; changing status for inspection.
Comment 10 kiv 2018-09-07 09:21:55 UTC
Dear All,

Today I have tested same files, from the same computer on the same hardware printer and the reported problem is missing now.

Probably by some patches as coming regularly from openSUSE the Okular is improved.

Checking the version of Okular again shows 1.3.3.
Probably some early version of the Okular may still have same problem, but I can not help about this, as in my computer now Okular is working as expected.

With best regards,

Thanks a lot for the status update and good to hear the problem is gone.

In addition to Okular, other components are involved in the printing process, so a change in one of those might also have brought about the change.

Since the problem is gone, I'm closing this bug report. Please just file a new one should the problem come back again.
