Description trmdi 2018-07-22 13:34:56 UTC
Currently the user has to do this manually: https://github.com/psifidotos/Latte-Dock/wiki/F.A.Q.#q-can-i-use-my-super-key-to-open-the-app-launcher

I suggest a new option in the Latte setting to help the user archives that more easily with just a click. That option will be disabled by default.

unfortunately I had promised to Martin from KWin team to not automate this because he was afraid that this would create a bunch of bug reports for KWin. So I can not add it without first communicate with KWin team.

It could possibly create some bug reports for KWin, in theory.

But in fact, I don't see any bug with it.
Moreover, almost everyone wants to activate the application menu with the Super key, they would very likely do this manually, whether you add that option or not. And they still report bugs wrongly. It does not depend on that option.

So, adding that option (disabled by default, of course) would certainly affect nothing. It just makes the UX better.

If there is some bug, then it is another problem need to be solved. That is another story.

You can write something like "(disable this option before removing Latte-dock)" into the option's label or a msgbox when the user checks into it... to warn him.

yeah it might be a good idea...
that would simplify also enabling/disabling that option there is already a similar approach for Borderless maximized windows.
