I installed GNU Aspell and the American English dictionary for it. (aspell, aspell-en and libaspell15 were all installed) All instances of Kate were closed, on starting Kate I loaded a simple text file and purposely misspelled a word. Then I clicked on Tools -> spelling and set automatic Spell Checking to selected The misspelled word is not detected. I tried Check spelling from cursor and same result so, i restarted Kate form a Konsole window and when I try to check spelling i see: sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: Unhandled script 126 sonnet.core: Unhandled script 127 sonnet.core: Unhandled script 128 sonnet.core: Unhandled script 129 sonnet.core: Unhandled script 130 sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: Loading trigrams from "/usr/share/kf5/sonnet/trigrams.map" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" sonnet.core: No language dictionaries for the language: "en" I checked in Yast and libKFSonnetCore5, libKFSonnetCore5-lang and libKFSonnetUI5 are installed 32 bit stuff is not installed as my installed Kate is 64 bit I wonder if there may possibly be a character case error in the locale or something related to that as i found that type of error in an example of strfmon not long ago. eg: "En_US" vs "en_US" only one is correct not both
What backend have been enabled by openSUSE when compiling Sonnet? It is possible that Sonnet is compiled with only hspell/hunspell support... I'm just guessing here...
Please provide the requested information. Thanks!
How do i determine what backend is being used? Actually i dont understand the request.
Sonnet on openSUSE indeed uses hunspell instead of the old aspell. Please install 'hunspell' packages and 'myspell' dictionaries.
Works with hunspell - this can be closed The reference to aspell in the Kate handbook should be removed
