When using the share option from within android, the speed at which the file transfer happens is in the KB range instead of what the wifi can perform at. I made a simple test of using the python SimpleHTTPServer to server up a directory and then download the same 22mb file that I tried to send to my pc using kdeconnect. The file download on the browser was pretty much instant, however when using sharing it's extremely slow when initiated from the android device. I am testing from a Samsung Galaxy S8. I am experiencing this issue on two other arch linux installs as well. I expect that the kdeconnect share speed should be the same speed as what the python simple http webserver can transfer files when I use the mobile browser. Having the share speed being big only one way is a problem
Just to let you known that it may be related to S8 phone itself. Today, I observed a higher transfer speed up to 5MB/s from my Nexus 5 to PC but lower speed in range of several KB/s to 3.1MB/s from my Samsung S8. My wireless router has an announced speed of more than 780Mbps on my Samsung S8 and 380Mbps on my Nexus 5.
