Description Emerson Castillo 2018-07-11 04:28:38 UTC
I installed Elisa through flatpak, and Elisa doesn't load at all, if I search for Elisa on KDE's application Launcher Elisa will show up but won't launch when I launch Elisa, and then I went to the terminal and did "flatpak run org.kde.elisa" which got me the out-put of:
"Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
Could not initialize GLX"

Since I can't attach the video due to it being over 400 KB, I will link a video demonstrating me Looking for Elisa on KDE's application launcher then doing the "flatpak run org.kde.elisa" command on the CLI.

I can confirm this behavior, same error message. Neon 5.13 UE

From what i can gather by trying to replicate some bugs on Elisa 0.2.0.

The problem seems only present when using the proprietary nvidia driver. (396.24.02). Elisa runs with out problem using any of the open source drivers (intel, amd, nvidia).

As an observation the current kdenlive flatpak outputs the same error. (there is no report at the moment on that)

So my educated guess can it be a OpenGL acceleration problem between the libraries/flatpak and the nvidia driver?

I am investigating possible solutions. Not sure I will be able to quickly find a solution. I am reading about the flatpak support for proprietary OpenGL drivers.

I got some nice news.

After tracking a different bug #394043 Nate told me to use the command "flatpak update" while updating i saw the flatpak nvidia drivers install and update on the console along with other packages.

So i decided to run the Elisa flatpak it actually run. Then proceeded to remove the one from the neon repositories and try again.

The result was the Elisa 0.2.1 flatpak is running on the proprietary nvidia driver (390.77).

The packages are:

org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.nvidia-390-77/x86_64/1.4
org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg/x86_64/1.6
org.kde.Platform/x86_64/5.11

As a side note the Kdenlive flatpak also runs.

Thanks for your reply.

I am closing this report because I do not think I can do anything to improve that.
