You need to control the wheel scroll.
It's hard to use.
I have to use a scroll bar.

I am sure this behavior is not specific to Amarok, it very likely depends on kdelibs. Since the next version will use KDE Frameworks instead and kdelibs are not maintained anymore there is very little we can do in this version.
