Description m.wege 2018-07-08 19:53:44 UTC
I would be really happy to the Lenovo Trackpoint settings reviewed which existed in KDE3, i am not sure if they made it to KDE4. Why? The Trackpoint can be configured like any other mouse, in some regards even more sophisticated. Of course this can be done manually via Konsole, but this is a little hassle gets lost from time to time, mostly during updates. And of course this manual thing is only something for more experienced users.
What I am specically missing is
- press-to-select
- the possibility to turn the touchpad automatically of when the trackpoint is used
- sometimes the trackpoint missbehaves, it is helpful to have the possibility to reset to default settings.
- and of course it makes sense sometimes to finetune the trackpoint for specific needs, the settings are generally available, but only on konsole basis.

Is the bug fix for "areas and fingers" fix the issue ? @Nate Graham

Yes, it would be nice if trackpoints could be configured independently of the settings used for touchpads.

Relevant libinput documentation: https://wayland.freedesktop.org/libinput/doc/latest/trackpoints.html

@Nate:

Is this documentation really complete? Has press-to-select been removed from beeing able to be configured?

Not being familiar with trackpoint hardware, I don't know what press-to-select means, sorry. You'd need to ask the Libinput developer Peter Hutterer regarding what trackpoint features Libinput supports nowadays.

How can he be contacted. I found the gitpage of libinput. But as far as I know it is inappropriate to ask a support question on a bugtracker.
