I have an application launcher added to the menu which starts a shell script. When I click on this launcher I get the error message: Could not find the program '<name of the script>' This is a regression to Plasma 5.12.
It doesnt work under X11 either, dont even get an error message there
Sounds more like your setup is wrong. Please upload your .desktop file and I'll take a look

Thanks for the update; changing status.
Hi, I have the same problem, but with an older Plasma-Version: 5.8.9: I add a new entry in the "KDE Menu Editor" to start my shell script. When I click the icon, the script is not executed and I do not get an error message.
Maybe this bug lies in kmenueditor. Because my .destop file is executable from the commandline: kioclient exec testfile.desktop But not from the menu.
Same here: kioclient5 exec Eclipse.desktop runs the desktop file. The classic application menu or the icon only taskbar dont.
I've just created a .desktop file for a shell script and it works just fine. Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I've set the bug status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks.
