The version is a bit old, and it looks like a distribution problem (like a missing dependency). Can you please share few more details? Which desktop environment do you use? It may be that the Mint packaging did not bring few required dependencies.
I am using Mint 18.3. Is the package kinit installed in your environment?

Randall - this bug was filed against khelpcenter, not KMyMoney. However, any packaging questions have to be addressed to Mint. The KDE teams release software, but each distribution does the packaging. Older LTS versions of Mint might well still be using kdelibs4, which means they will be stuck with KMM 4.8. To use KMM 5.0 (5.0.1 has been released) you need a distribution that uses KF5 (KDE Frameworks.)
