I see the same thing on Kubuntu 18.04 with Qt 5.9.5 and Plasma 5.12.5.

Looks like some sort of Qt regression to me.

GreenBarbers, what distro and what Qt versions are you using? If you;re able to upgrade, could you confirm whether or not it happens with Plasma 5.13 or Qt 5.10 or Qt 5.11?

I've changed the settings and no more font glitching ... but

The only way I could get rid of the glitch was by setting sub-pixel rendering to "none".
The downside is that font rendering in Firefox has gotten somewhat worse.
All info is captured in the attachment.

This seems fixed with Qt 5.13. Can anyone confirm it still happening with that release or a newer one?
Comment 16 Patrick Silva 2019-11-06 21:13:02 UTC
what is "moderate" hinting? "Medium"?
If so, I can't reproduce this issue on my system.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.63.0
Qt Version: 5.13.2
Comment 17 Nate Graham 2019-11-06 21:14:13 UTC
Yeah. Thanks for confirming!
