Screenshot of Dolphin unable to access remote symlink

I use a Wetek Play running libreelec and Kodi as a home entertainment center and access it remotely using Dolphin on Neon. The Wetek box is enabled for SSH and a number of folders are symlinked to an attached HDD. Some time today I could no longer access these remotely from Dolphin, which can't enter the symlinked folders. The console still opens the symlinks and so does Dolphin on a Kubuntu 18.4 system. Non-symlink folders are fine too.

All this started after a large update a few hours ago. I've tried rebooting - no effect. I see towards the end of .xsession-errors many occurrences of

"log_kio_sftp: ssh_channel_poll failed: Socket error: disconnected"

so it seems the errors started occurring after the system update. Dolphin is now 18.04.2. I tried downgrading to 18.04.1 but the problem persists, so I guess it's not actually in Dolphin itself.

I created the bug in https://phabricator.kde.org/D12696
And fixed it in https://phabricator.kde.org/D13475

Hopefully distros will have updated packages with the fix.

The fix has been backported to the Applications/18.04 branch and will be available along with the 18.04.3 bugfix release.
