I have tested this with a OnePlus3T running OxygenOS (the OnePlus Android, shipped with the phone), up to date. Laptop is running KDE Neon with kdeconnect
1.3.0-0neon+16.04+xenial+build11.

I tried using KDE Connect beta from Google Play and couldn't send any files. They always failed. Sometimes after a delay.

I opted out of the beta programme on Google Play and then uninstalled and reinstalled the app and found I still couldn't send files. Now it fails immediately. I tried restarting the KDE Connect app on my phone.

I also tried un-pairing and re-pairing the device with the laptop. it still fails immediately.

Can you please tell me whether notifications from your phone that have icons are correctly displayed on the desktop? The icons use the same internal mechanism for transfer so that would help us determine whether this is an issue in the Share plugin or the filetransfer.

Also, can you please check with various file sizes (few bytes, few kB, few 100 kB, few mB)?

When the transfer starts, it fails instantaneously. However, in the desktop notifications, a progress bar appears that keeps oscillating from beginning to end without showing any progress. And it never ends, (it's been more than 2 hours) until I finish it from the desk with the stop button.

when you send files from desktop computer to android device, transfer fails too.......
Comment 7 Federico Acosta 2018-06-05 02:41:40 UTC
when you send files from desktop computer to android device, transfer fails too but notification never come, nither computer, nither android device.

I received an SMS on my phone and it shows an icon in the notification. Is that sufficient? or is there a better test case?

The smallest file I have on my phone is ~180KB and that failed immediately I tried to send, but as Federico says, I get a constant bouncer in the notification on my PC that it's sending but it isn't.

Is there a debug log, or can I run kdeconnect in some verbose state in the terminal to get more info?

I've tried kdeconnect version 1.0.3 on ubuntu 18.04, and failed to send files from device to computer. But I succeeded with kdeconnect version 1.0.3 on ubuntu 16.04. Hope this message help.

I do also experience this issue with KDE Neon Developer Edition (Stable, upgraded to 18.04). I think that this is an issue with Ubuntu 18.04, as sending files works perfectly to my laptop which still runs 16.04. If I can assist you in debugging, I'll gladly do it.

Kubuntu 18.04 and KDE Connect version 1.8.4 on Android here.
I remember using the app for the first time with Kubuntu 16.04 and sending files successfully.

Could this be due to a change in KIO? Nothing has changed in KDE Connect...

Fixed a problem that could have been the cause of this: 1d1fdf8ef5c26a22672a68eaa94581ba30ef6dbf

Could you test the master branch version and tell me if you are still having trouble?

To be clear, he's talking about the master branch of the desktop side
Comment 16 Julian Steinmann 2018-09-09 17:00:25 UTC
After building & running KDE Connect from master, the problem has disappeared for me. I think that the mentioned commit indeed fixed the issue, but if somebody else could confirm this that'd be great.
Comment 17 Christoph Feck 2018-09-27 00:44:53 UTC
No further feedback; let's assume the commit indeed fixed it. Please re-open if you still have the issue with the next kdeconnect release.
