Support for clip zones is awesome to have, so kudos to the devs for that. With this said, currently there is some weirdness in the way zones work. Problem: if a user saves a clip zone into the Project Bin, then s/he will expect that clip zone to effectively behave as if it were a "real" clip. The kdenlive interface invites this kind of thinking with regard to zones by allowing them to be added to the Project Bin. Current behavior: a user adds a clip zone to the project bin (by selecting a zone in a "real" clip and dragging it into the Project Bin). The user then selects that clip zone in the Project Bin and hits "play" in the Clip Monitor. In the Clip Monitor, the user then forwards the video by a few frames and then resumes playback. Kdenlive will continue playing the clip until the end of the *original* clip (ie, beyond the end of the zone). Expected behavior: the user added a clip zone to the project bin and expects that zone to be treated just as if it were a clip. This means that the user can advance/rewind the playback within that zone and have playback still stop *at the end of the zone*.
Click on the "arrow" just right to the "play" icon to extend -> choose "play zone" or "loop zone"
