Description Greg Lepore 2018-05-11 17:51:11 UTC
I downloaded the following file from archive.org:

https://ia800800.us.archive.org/27/items/ftp-ftp_anonawest_com/ftp.anonawest.com.tar

it's a large tar file of an FTP site. I then right-clicked in Dolphin and selected Extract Archive Here. During the extraction, a song suddenly started playing! The song was an MP3 in the root of the tar file. I tried it again, and again the song started playing.

This only occurs when View->Preview is selected in Dolphin's View menu. Opening the audio volume applet showed that Chromium (!) was the application playing the song, verified by muting the Chromium output.

Warning, the file is 2.2GB in size, and it downloads very slowly. I attempted to recreate the issue with a local MP3 and tar, with no success.

KDE Plasma Version 5.12.5
Ark version 18.4.1

Does it happen only when Chromium is running?

Great question! Yes, the issue still occurs when Chromium is not running, but the audio applet still lists Chromium as the application playing the stream.

I'd download the tar and check myself but it's large like you said and slow.

Greg can you please recheck on a current version of Dolphin and confirm if the issue is still occurring?

Problem is no longer occuring. As the original submitter, I am marking this as resolved.
