I updated to the new Spectacle app, and tried to take a rectangular region screenshot. After clicking "Take a new screenshot" the program closes. It will instead take a screenshot of the entire screen even though it crashes. Version 18.04.0-1 Linux, KDE Plasma.
Thanks for the report, but I'm not quite sure what you are doing. How is it possible that at the same time the app closes, captures the full screen and crashes? Please add more detailed steps to reproduce and describe in detail what happened (ideally with a video showing the issue). Also, let us know which graphics driver you are using. Are you sure the problem is related to the update of Spectacle and not some other part of the system which you may have updated at the same time, e.g. your graphics driver?
Created attachment 112603 [details] attachment-27469-0.html I do apologize, but after looking more into the issue myself, I discovered it was an issue with my graphics drivers. Sorry for the false report, but everything works great now. Thanks for the update; changing status.
I encountered this same problem today after updating xserver-common and the nvidia libraries on Kubuntu 18.04.5. Rebooting the computer cleared up the problem.
Please file a new bug report with a backtrace of the crash attached if you can make it happen again. See also https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting
Thanks. Kubuntu popped up a dialog asking me if I wanted to file a report, and I clicked "Yes," so hopefully this happened.
