A reproducible crash occurs under these circumstances:

• Enable "Select" > "Show Global Selection Mask".
• Make a selection.
• Select the "selection" layer in the layer stack.
• Click on the "Duplicate layer or mask" button (or press the corresponding hotkey).

Unfortunately, I don't think that a kritacrash.log file was generated.

Hi. I'm on linux but I think that this has been fixed recently: Bug 382315 (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382315).

Already fixed. Try the nightly build.
