Description Todd 2018-05-05 03:52:29 UTC
Fedora 28
Xfce 4.12 (Not KDE)

When copying large file, the progress bar is missing.
Comment 1 Nikita Melnichenko 2018-05-05 06:20:04 UTC
In KDE there is no progress bar in Krusader too, however the progress is outsourced to the notification (tray) area. Do you have this enabled in Xfce?

Where exactly? In Panel One at the top with Krusader's name? I have never seen such a thing, but then again, I never thought to look for it there. Mainly, I have watch the file size in the sour pane and the receiving pane.

Any way to get the progress bar back? Is is really useful.

Just did a massive transfer. No sign on a progress indicator anywhere.

Sorry, I can't tell since I'm not familiar with Xfce.
I tried copying in Dolphin, I see the same style progress indicator. What do you see?

In which version did you see the progress bar?

No Dolphin in XFce, but I do get a progress bar popup with Xfce's Thunar file manager

You know, I really do not know. I upgraded from Scientific Linux 7.5 (a Red Hat Enterprise Linux clone) to Fedora recently. Everything in RHEL is so buggy and terribly out of date, the version of Krusader may have dated from back before the both of us where born. (RHEL nearly drove me INSANE!)

This is what Thunar's progress bar looks like

The solution is to use Job Toolbar for non-KDE systems. Please read the latest Krusader docbook on this.

I can find nothing describing non-kde JOb Toolbars anywhere in
https://docs.kde.org/trunk5/en/extragear-utils/krusader/toolbars.html#job_toolbar

Would you mind giving me a URL?

This is correct URL. If you look at Figure 3.2, it starts just before "0%" text. This is a progress bar for file operations. It's the same for KDE and non-KDE. If you don't see it on your toolbar, just use Settings -> Configure Toolbars to add progress bar and the buttons.

Tried that. Doesn't work. Just shows an empty bar when copying

We just released v2.7.0 and I checked the Job progress bar and controls work as expected under Gnome. I don't have a VM with Xfce to confirm.

I encourage you to upgrade to v2.7 at your earliest convenience and check. Please also check under a new user - there is a possibility that some old settings of yours interfere with the Job toolbar. Thanks!

Any way you can goose the Fedora Folks from your end?

I posted a message to a kde app announcements list. They most likely track the list. You can create a bug for them to accelerate, however AFAIK Fedora is not a rolling distro and you'll have to wait for another Fedora release (29) to get it.

BTW, you don't have to wait for them. You can compile from source by getting the archive from our website (krusader.org) and issuing commands from the INSTALL file. It's rather straightforward.

P.S. If in doubt, ask Margo. :)

I am loath to install anything with out an RPM. Do yo have a source of one or directions on how to roll one?
