Created attachment 112136 [details] Expanded folders being collapsed after return from second tab Steps to reproduce: 1. Open tab 1, expand several levels of folders and subfolders in folders panel 2. Switch to tab 2 3. Switch back to tab 1, several of the folders which had been expanded are closed See attached video. Expanded levels in /crawl and crawl2 have been collapsed.
I can confirm on Arch Linux, Dolphin 18.04.
Still happening on Dolphin Version 18.12.3.
We have a setting to solve this: Right click on an element of the folder panel, uncheck "Limit to Home Directory". By default the folder panel tries to stay focused on home directory. Does this solve your issue ?
Original submitter here, I'm not sure what the Limit to Home Directory setting is supposed to do, but it does not fix the problem for me. Attached is a video of the problem still occuring. Operating System: KDE neon 5.18 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0 Qt Version: 5.14.1 Kernel Version: 4.15.0-96-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor Memory: 7.8 GiB of RAM

Original submitter here, I'm not sure what the Limit to Home Directory setting is supposed to do, but it does not fix the problem for me. You need to disable it for your use case. In your video you clearly have it enabled, when you clicked in tab with ~/Downloads/lib the setting make the folder view reset with its root based on ~. Please confirm.
I can confirm that disabling "Limit to Home Directory" corrects the problem of expanded folders being collapsed. Is that the desired behavior of that feature?
> Is that the desired behavior of that feature? Yes, as it stays, it tries to limit what the folder panel shows to $HOME. When you are outside of HOME this is turned off, but once you return to $HOME the folder panel is reset to HOME as root, loosing its context.
