It would be very useful to have an option for a different timeout for switching off the screen while the session is locked. This option could also be active by default with a value of a few minutes. I'm not sure if this would belong in the Screen Locker or Energy Saving KCM. Some other screen lockers and other operating systems have this functionality. For example, while I may want a 15 minute screen timeout while the computer is not locked, I would like to have a shorter timeout of 1 minute while kscreenlocker is active.
Moving this feature request to powerdevil as kscreenlocker has nothing to do with screen timeouts.
XScreenSaver implements this by setting a different power configuration profile while it's running, so it might be possible to implement this without modifying powerdevil.
I quite like the idea. I won't promise to work on it anytime soon but I have definitely thought about this quite often.
I believe this feature request is still revenant. There isn't a user-friendly way to turn off the display sooner while locked. It seems that: > In Plasma 5.27, pressing Escape on the lock screen will turn off monitors. See https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kscreenlocker/-/merge_requests/99 Couldn't kscreenlocker use the same mechanism to automatically turn off monitors with a shorter timer than the power profile specifies? I find this a rather important feature to save power. It's been requested over the years by others too: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/ulom4o/lock_and_turn_off_the_screen/ https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/9v5748/its_possible_to_turn_off_the_monitor_when_you/ https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/z2klhr/how_do_i_turn_off_the_screen_when_i_lock/
