I am just testing a clip ( MTS format on Video 2)  and a color clip  (Video 1) to play with alpha manipulation and crashes are generated by  :
 - dragging shape (forme in french)  of alpha canal to Video 2
 - dragging "courbe du canal alpha" to Video 2
- dragging "Operation  sur le canal Alpha"  to Video 2
- dragging "Selection de couleur"  to Video 2

The others Alpha manipulation seems to run corectly.
