Description Zakhar 2018-04-09 23:18:40 UTC
Currently if device is in sleep mode, the device is unpaired thus no notifications of useful things such as sms will appear on the pc. Please implement option to enabled pairing to persist whilst device is sleeping, or with screen off.

There's two parts to this bug:
 1. In "Settings > Wifi > Advanced (in overflow menu) > Enable Wi-Fi while sleeping" (or similar, my phone is in a different language), you should set it to "Yes". I'll see if I can add a warning for that in the code, though.
 2. KDE Connect *should* already remain connected while the device is sleeping. That doesn't (fully) work though, these bugs are hard to find. If you have a situation where you can reproduce the loss of connectivity, please let us know (including Android version, KDE Connect on Android version, Desktop version, adb logcat)!

Comment 4 Zakhar 2018-04-11 02:05:32 UTC
I couldn't locate "Enable Wi-Fi while sleeping" on android 7, seems like they removed it.
Comment 5 Zakhar 2018-04-13 21:38:22 UTC
I stopped using kdeconnect cause it doesen't work when phone is locked.
Comment 6 Zakhar 2018-04-13 21:39:37 UTC
It also drains substantial phone battery.

I have the same problem on different phones.
KDE Connect doesn't sustain connection even though in Android settings its listed as an app that doesn't go to sleep AND Wi-Fi is enabled to work even in sleep mode.
Repeated with Android 5, 6, 7 and now 8.
Version from F-Droid, with no Google Services on the phone. The exact versions don't matter it neve worked for me(sincev first releases) its just now i've found KDE connect to be really useful outside of video remote control.

Maybe it has something to do with google services, could KDE Connect work without it because alot of apps can. And its not available for many phones actually.
