Kstars was working fine until I added the Tycho2 star catalogue from the Data menu. Since then it crashes with 'Kstars quit unexpectedly'. I've uninstalled Kstars from Application folder, reinstalled and get the same error.

Please test with 2.9.6 that was just released. Try to clear existing files first:
