Description drokergeek 2018-04-04 16:10:14 UTC
So I always use the cool purple nightly icon for my firefox launcher, one day in 5.14 or 5.13 I dont remember exactly, it started to be rendered like in the video. I recorded the video in a guest account (so all the config files were just created) and using a dark theme to appreciate the ausence of antialising in the icon.

I'm not sure about which component has the bug because the app launcher also has this bug as shown in the pic added

I noticed this after upgrading Kubuntu 17.10 to 18.04, which means plasma 5.10 to 5.12.

It looks like the icons are being scaled without interpolation. I'll attach two screenshots: small panel and big panel. In the big panel, notice how the plasma icon and the window icon are the same size, but were scaled differently (aliased x blurred). The last 3 icons (eclipse, sql developer, smart git) are custom icons.

There's aliasing even with SVG custom icons.

Can reproduce in:
Operating System: Netrunner Rolling
KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5
Qt Version: 5.11.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0

and cannot reproduce in:
Operating System: KDE neon Developer Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.80
Qt Version: 5.11.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.51.0

both in X11 and Wayland

Not specific to the icon widget; moving to the general component.

Is this still happening or reproducible in Plasma 5.20? It works for me.

i'm sorry, i didn't notice there was a reply to this thread
I have just checked, and even though it still happens when using almost any "other icons" icon, as i show in the video it seems there are some that doesn't trigger the bug, so maybe it is format related...
