Description john.hoogerdijk 2018-03-03 17:15:46 UTC
Under the EKOS guiding tab, the guide camera is shown as the primary imaging camera when guiding is provided by an external instance of PHD2.

Functionality does not appear to be impacted (PHD2 runs fine and works with the PHD simulator camera). I've attached screenshots.

I'll bump this issue and confirm it, now that there is a pop-up warning the user that the guide and imaging camera are the same. When there is only one camera in the setup, the pop-up appears and breaks the automation.

Workaround is to include the guide cam in the profile, even if not used.

Multiple solutions:
- we prevent the display of the pop-up when PHD2 guiding is enabled
- we make the warning bypassable, like twilight check in the scheduler
- we allow the use of a fake device, "no camera", in the drop down list

First solution doesn't cover all cases, linguider probably needs that.
Second solution seems safe, except it will bite the user at some point when the same camera is used with the internal guider.
Third solution is probably less straightforward.

User alacant reports that including the guide cam in the profile doesn't work.

Maybe we can only display the popup when using internal guider then?

Seems the best option for short term yes.
