Description Krasi Georgiev 2018-03-02 21:31:40 UTC
I have the screen energy savings set at 30min

When playing a video in full screen - VLC , Stremio the screen turns off after the 30min so it seems the shell doesn't detected that something is running in full screen.

plasmashell 5.11.5

Fedora 27

Linux lenovo-p50 4.14.14-300.fc27.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Jan 19 13:19:54 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

just now I realised that the screen turns off after 10min and not even at the 30min that are set in the power settings.

Do you happen to use VLC from either Flatpak or Snap?
Comment 3 Krasi Georgiev 2018-03-02 22:27:26 UTC
nope installed form the official fedora repo.

But I think the problem is with the screensaver. I just disabled it and will see if this will happen again.

Do you have "Enable power management" unchecked in your Battery and Brightness widget?
Comment 5 Krasi Georgiev 2018-03-03 07:45:45 UTC
"Enable power management" is checked , but it seems that the culprit was the screen saver so after I disabled it the screen stays on so I will close this and reopen if needed.

now the screen energy saving turns off the screen while I watching a video in full screen.

wow so many settings to interfere with the full screen video playback :)

The Battery applet will tell you when an application is preventing suspend, e.g. "VLC is currently suppressing power management: playing video". If that is not the case, the culprit is typically the application. It has to tell us that it likes the screen to stay on and VLC does here.
Comment 8 Nate Graham 2021-03-10 00:19:01 UTC
Yes, can you check that? Thanks!
