Description Michael Carpino 2018-02-19 18:41:47 UTC
I'm manually entering a dividend reinvestment in the ledger of an investment transaction. I am entering the broker fee (in the fees line), transaction shares and dollar amount of the shares. I press enter and the broker fee disappears.

I have the exact same problem. I'm using version 4.6.6.
Comment 2 Jack 2018-08-29 22:41:53 UTC
Is this problem still present in 5.x? In a dividend reinvestment transaction, I don't even see a fees line, and the interest line does not seem to allow a split entry. (Do we need a wishlist to add a fees line?)

transaction showing fees with reinvestment
Comment 4 Michael Carpino 2018-08-29 23:07:35 UTC
Yes, the problem still exists. I tried to enter a transaction using 5.0.80 as a reinvestment with fees and still can't. The program allowed it with a previous version of KMM as can be seen in the screenshot.
Comment 5 Jack 2018-08-29 23:28:31 UTC
I'd like to see a screen shot of where you try to enter the fees. When I enter a reinvestment, I don't even see anywhere to enter a fee.
Comment 6 Michael Carpino 2018-08-30 00:02:34 UTC
The fee line is available in the register if you perform Buy, Sell, Dividend transactions. The screenshot that I attached shows I was able to add fees for a reinvestment dividend previously. If I try to enter a transaction as a reinvestment dividend by changing the pulldown to Reinvest Dividend the fee line disappears. What I tried to do in my description dated 2-19-2018 was I entered the information with it as a dividend and then changed it to a reinvest dividend and the fee line disappears. Somehow it worked for me previously and now it doesn't. It's very common for reinvested dividend to have fees associated with these type of transactions

I found the culprit. See bug 351078.

Revert "Don't require fees for reinvest dividend action"

This reverts commit 7f6ce06ab35a4438e57d09063ddbe2bc575f02e9 and adjusts
to intermediate changes and makes the fees an optional item.
