Description Michał Dybczak 2018-02-18 08:51:00 UTC
I just upgraded from Plasma 5.11.5 to 5.12.1 and physical power button on my laptop stopped working. I have set it to power off the system while pushed on a working session (in all scenarios, so with AC plugged in, on a battery and in a critical state) and this has always worked without problems before. Now I can push/click it as many times I want, there is no reaction from the system.

I checked if settings are not changed but no, all looks fine. To be sure I applied different setting and then again power button as shutdown action. No change, still not doing anything.

I checked kernels 4.15, 4.14, 4.9 - issue exists on all of them.

Laptop: Alienware 17 R3

Is there any place I should look for more details to help with the issue?

Yes, it does seem that this is the same bug. My screen brightness key shortcuts also stopped working - I didn't realize that earlier.
I tried the solution of from comment 22 but it didn't help and actually, the lines that I copied and moved from one section to another were identical as far I could evaluate quickly, so I don't see the point of the whole manual fix.
