Description PB&J couple 2018-02-17 06:56:55 UTC
This is already discussed here, but the macroblock height/width seem sliders seem to have no effect at all on the video. Faces near the camera are not sufficiently blurred.

Checking in on this. Thanks!

Confirmed. Change macroblock height/width has no effect.
Tested with latest Refactoring nightly build (27.Dec 18)
Comment 3 Davy Bartoloni 2019-05-13 06:52:02 UTC
Confirmed also on 19.04.1
Comment 4 Jean-Baptiste Mardelle 2019-05-13 11:33:46 UTC
This seems to be an MLT issue. I have a patch ready but wondering if this ever worked before...
Comment 5 Davy Bartoloni 2019-09-09 07:45:35 UTC
Not working on 19.08 and 19.08.1
Comment 6 Darxus 2019-09-16 15:56:35 UTC
These settings affect the motion tracking, not the blurring.

(I'd much rather have a single color than pixelization, since with enough frames, pixelization can be reversed.)

automask need some improvents.. maybe:
single color mask (to use with brightness/contrast filter)
blur effect (to hide small things without "hard" pixelization)
color/brightness/contrast/transparency ( to highlight a part of scene )

or a way... to use generated keyframes (geometry and position) on secondary effects/transitions applied to clip.

i can confirm that the macroblock size sliders are affecting the motion tracking.. putting the sliders to 1 pixel make the motion tracking not working and also putting size to 100 do the same.

(also seems that if a video clip has not audio track the motion tarcking is not working correctly.. but maybe this is something related to video format)

Hello and thanks for your report.

The automask effect if being rewritten for the next major release of MLT (version 7). We are tracking progress of this task here in case you'd like to follow up: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/991

Will close this issue here. Do test after the release and let us know if it still happens.
