Description Jo 2018-02-13 10:45:46 UTC
Steps
1-Create a selection
2-group selection web shortcut group doesn't do anything (in fact, the command is grayed out in the menu bar)
Comment 1 Halla Rempt 2018-02-13 10:48:46 UTC
What do you mean with "group selection web shortcut"? I don't think we've got anything called like that in Krita? And are you selecting layers, making a selection using the selection tools or selecting vector shapes?
Comment 2 Jo 2018-02-13 11:04:01 UTC
Facepalm
Sorry typo..
grouping selections with shortcut "group" doesn't do anything

I like to save my selections as masks in groups, but when I try to group an active selection made previously with the polygonal selection tool, the group shortcut doesn't work. (No vector shapes, but painted areas)
Comment 3 Halla Rempt 2018-02-13 11:13:41 UTC
You cannot group masks in Krita, only layers.
Comment 4 Jo 2018-02-13 12:07:57 UTC
I see, I see...
I love it, that Krita creates temporary layers for selections, so why not allow grouping of the same?
Currently I move selections manually inside groups, to keep them for later use. E. G. Useful for Environment design/concept art.

Selection masks are displayed as layers, which is very curious.

To have this special layers at hand I like to deactivate them and group them in folders. Why shouldn't be possible to group this layers?
I understand mostly selections are use and trash objects but some selections can be meaningful, so it's worth to keep and group then for later use

Thank you, please remember to set the Status back to Reported.

I'm not sure if it is technically possible/sane to group selection masks into groups layers, but at least some kind of grouping might be a good idea.

Anyway, it is not actually a bug, but a wish request. Downgrading it to a wishlist.

Maybe what the original reporter wants is closer to what Cyrille originally tried to implement with the selection bag docker: a place to store selections that can be enabled and disabled, outside the layer structure.

I thought my idea was technically simpler to realize. If a bag dockers is also ok

This needs some conclusion regarding UX before it can be implemented.
