Description Winston Nolan 2018-02-13 10:02:59 UTC
This menu does not show at all. Clicking on Application settings > Application style > Widget style > Fine tuning does not even show the menu bar style option.

Please can you show me the output of running

qdbus org.kde.kappmenuview
Comment 3 Kai Uwe Broulik 2018-02-13 13:03:40 UTC
The option has been removed, the menu service hould automatically start when a menu plasmoid or window button is added.

Hi, Output below
qdbus: could not open config file '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt-default/qtchooser//default.conf': No such file or directory
Comment 5 Winston Nolan 2018-02-13 17:14:49 UTC
Holy Moly! After I removed dbus from my system, essentially wrecking it, leaving my laptop unusable, and downloading deb by deb from another laptop, I got it up again - wow

qdbus org.kde.kappmenuview now outputs

/
/ColorCorrect
/ColorPicker
/Compositor
/Effects
/KWin
/Screenshot
/Scripting

ok, winston do you have an icon that looks like = (but with three lines) in your window decoration?

If so, you can choose to remove it from systemsettings -> appearance -> window decorations ->buttons

If not... can I see your ~/.config/kwinrc?

kwinrc

I cannot see the icon in my window decoration. I am using the active window control widget, if that helps. Attached is my kwinrc file. Thanks for helping <3

Can confirm absence of Menubar options in Widget Style - even if Panel and Desktop Global Menu widgets are added in:

Plasma: 5.12.2
Apps: 17.12.2
Frameworks: 5.43.0
Qt: 5.10.1
Kernel: 4.14.24-1-MANJARO
OS: Netrunner Rolling

qdbus org.kde.kappmenuview

There isn't meant to be an option there.

The (alleged) but is not having menus in apps, whilst claiming not to have the global menu plasmoid / app menus turned off in window decos.
