Description Lehmeier 2018-02-10 17:42:11 UTC
When upgrading from KDE 4 to KDE 5, all settings are lost and everything must be reconfigured.
This is not only very annoying but also unacceptable in many areas. Not only is the old user disappointed in every new version but you also lose acceptance with professional OEMs every time.
Ensures that a transfer of the old data automatically succeeds and it will also be a bit more fun to work with KDE.

> all settings are lost

This is not true. Many applications use the KDE4 config migration helpers to move their configuration from .kde to .config folder.

If this does not work for the applications you are using, you would need to report it separately for each application.

Only the application developers can decide which configuration options are movable to the ported version; we cannot simply copy all files from .kde to .config folder.
