Description Patrick Silva 2018-02-09 18:13:04 UTC
Today Discover found update for a flatpak runtime (Gnome 3.24) and for packages from neon dev unstable repositories.
I canceled the password dialog, packages from neon repos were not updated, but Discover updated the flatpak runtime.
Comment 1 Aleix Pol 2018-02-09 21:11:35 UTC
I'm unsure this is an issue.
Comment 2 Patrick Silva 2018-02-09 21:40:56 UTC
user cancels authorization and packages are installed anyway?
Confuse at least.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2018-02-09 22:30:27 UTC
I think this is definitely an issue. Hitting cancel here indicates that the user doesn't want to install the packages. Having them installed anyway is pretty unexpected.

I agree. This of course happens because flatpak updates don't require a sudo password, but users shouldn't need to think like that IMO.

Still valid.

KDE neon Developer Edition
KDE Plasma: 5.14.80
Qt: 5.11.2
KDE Frameworks: 5.52.0
Comment 6 Patrick Silva 2020-04-01 19:36:21 UTC
Still relevant on Neon unstable.

Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0
Qt Version: 5.14.1

Any progress on this?
Comment 8 Harald Sitter 2024-05-08 06:41:00 UTC
I fail to see what we can do about this. The password dialog is from and for packagekit, not flatpak.
Comment 9 Nate Graham 2024-05-09 19:39:34 UTC
Maybe it wasn't clear in the auth dialog that the request for authentication only applied to the Flatpak packages and not to everything--tricking you into believing that it did apply to everything such that canceling would stop all of the updates.

Patrick, is it any better in Plasma 6 with the redesigned auth dialog?
