I'm used to deal with layer modes, previously I worked with various 2d software. . The amount of available layer modes in Krita however, is excessive - maybe better if users can manage what layer modes we want - configurable in preferences. (I tried krita's layer modes by the way) The thing is, developers aren't artists using their software to paint, so they go with best intentions. Maybe the layer modes involve great math formulas behind, but this doesn't mean they're useful in painting.
The favorites system in the layer modes is intended to limit the selection of layers, is it not working for you? Or is the existence of the menu entries what upsets you? We have also seen over the years that there is always a user for a given blending mode, so unless we implement telemetry it is very hard for us to figure out which ones 'are not useful for painting'.
Sorry, we're not going to remove blending modes.
Hopefully my text sounds not upset, I made the experience that "less is more". If you have 4 highways but your gonna build 6 more highways, people will use all 10 highways. I think matte painted might use strange blending modes - but for painting alone I need just few. It's Ok. Thanks for suggesting blending favorite.. I need to figure out how this works :)
