Description cat22 2018-02-05 01:42:43 UTC
System Info:
openSUSE Leap 42.3 (x86_64)
KDE 5.32.0 Plasma 5.8.7 Qt 5.6.2
Konsole 17.04.2

It is easy to drag a tab out of a konsole window which then becomes its own window. But it does not seem possible to have two konsole windows open with multiple tabs in each window and then be able to drag a tab from one konsole to the other.

Expected behavior:

If it is the only tab in the source window the source window should close and the tab should become active in the destination konsole window becoming a new tab there.

If it is *not* the only tab in the source window then the source window should remain open with one less tab and the dragged tab should become active in the destination konsole window (becoming a new tab there)

I'm a bit confused here as this works for me and is not a new feature.

The only oddity I see is that the window that has the new tab is not brought forward.

Do you have the ability to create a slideshow or video showing the issue on your system?

It probably fails when trying to unify tabs from windows of different Konsole processes.

Thanks Christoph - not sure if this actually fixable

Kurt: you say "as this works for me and is not a new feature."
Can you post a video showing this works? I am pretty sure you are misinterpreting my post. Just open two konsole windows (lets call them 'A' and 'B'), then in each window open a couple of extra tabs. Now you have 2 konsole windows with 3 tabs each, right?
Drag a tab out of window 'B' to window 'A' - it wont work - instead a new window opens. Now you have 3 konsole windows: a new window 'C' with 1 tab, window 'B now has 2 tabs instead of its original 3, and Window 'A' remains as it was with 3 tabs.
The problem is that window 'C' (which is the tab dragged out of window 'B') shouldn't exist. window 'C' should have become a new tab in window 'A' where it was dropped (or was attempted to be dropped)
Does this make sense?

Initially I couldn't confirm this but after trying to make a video for it I was able to.

Running KDE Neon Unstable
