That should do the trick. > > See > https://docs.kde.org/stable4/en/extragear-office/kmymoney/details.accounts.edit.html > for the layout of the dialog. > > Does that help? Hallo Thomas Baumgart, I changed the opening date of the account with the account editor to a date before the first transaction in that account and also entered the opening balance in the same dialog. And now I can make the desired changes. Now it works. Great! Many thanks for your help! I still have another question. How can I change a wrong opening date of a credit account? It seems a special approach is required. By the way, kmymoney is a great program. It fulfills exactly my requirements and expectations. Should I make a positive assessment somewhere? Greetings from northern Germany Herwig Janssen
This is probably not easily possible. I could think of two ways: - remove all transactions - delete the account - create it again with the correct date - add the transactions Maybe, exporting the transactions using QIF and re-importing them may ease the work. A second method maybe to modify the data file directly. That is something for the savvy user. Please don't use the bug tracker for user questions. I changed this entry into a wishlist item so that we don't forget about it. Visit kmymoney.org and there the Support section and find links to the forum or the mailing list. Those places are much better suited for user questions. Feel free to drop positive comments whereever you like. We like that.
Would it not work to create a new credit account with the correct opening date and balance, and then move all the transactions from the old account to the new.
It is certainly worth a try since it saves a lot of time. Jack, a nice workaround in case it works.
In this case, is credit account the same as credit card account? If so, I don't know what changed, or when, but in 5.1.3 it seems possible to change the opening date of a credit card account. It will certainly be difficult to be sure things remain correct if you add transactions prior to any previous reconciliation, but it is done before a lot is done with the account, it should be possible to assure all values are actually correct. Am I missing something, or can this be called FIXED?
Should this be considered fixed in 5.2?
"Credit account" in the original reporters context is meant as loan account (you need German language skills to figure that out).

If the issue comes down to editing configuration of a loan account without having to re-run the loan wizard, we have known about that for a while. Should we close this as a duplicate of that bug rather than just letting the Janitor Service close it? (I'm sure there is one, but don't have the ID handy.)
