1. Bring up any page with an image, such as http://www.comedycv.co.uk/mattparker/index.html 2. Right-click on the image, and pick "Save Image As..." 1. Bring up any webpage. 2. Pick "File|Save as..." from the menu. Expected behavior: A file dialog pops up asking me where to save the file. Actual behavior: Nothing happens.
Cannot reproduce on openSUSE Tumbleweed. On both operations, a file dialog is displayed.
Could this be a bug in the Artful Aardvark package? I've also seen it throw a file in ~/Downloads when I downloaded it, instead of asking where I want to put it. Sometimes I want to save a file somewhere else. Konqueror in Xenial Xerus did not have this bug.
I remember seeing comments that it does not work (yet) with kdewebengine, but works with kdewebkit. Comment #1 was indeed using kdewebkit.
In "Configure Konqueror", I found "Default web browser ergine". The choices are WebEngine and KHTML (no kdewebkit). It was set to WebEngine. I changed it to KHTML and tried to save a picture. The picture appeared in Downloads without any file dialog popping up.
kdewebkit is a separate package; it is even possible that your distribution dropped it in favor of kdewebengine.
(In reply to phma from comment #2) > I've also seen it throw > a file in ~/Downloads when I downloaded it, instead of asking where I want > to put it. This is an unrelated problem (though also specific to the webenginepart), and has been fixed meanwhile in KDE Applications 17.08: https://cgit.kde.org/konqueror.git/commit/?id=86ed60240e9eeb4bef08fa5fbdef04206ba2f04c I can confirm that "File->Save as..." has no effect with webenginepart, but works fine with KHTML and kwebkitpart as mentioned. I suppose we should change the component appropriately... PS: "Save Image As..." in an image's context menu opens the image in a new tab here (same as "View Image", so probably a different problem. (this also works fine with KHTML and kwebkitpart)
I just upgraded to Bionic and am trying to download Julia. I right-click on the 64-bit binary link on https://julialang.org/downloads/ and pick Save As. Now it doesn't go anywhere! It shows a progress bar on the taskbar, then two things pop up just above the taskbar, but when I look for the downloaded file, it's not in Downloads, it's not in /tmp, and it's not anywhere in my home directory. Save As needs to bring up a Save As dialog box, so that I can choose where to put the file.
