Description baarsrj 2018-01-29 15:43:22 UTC
When a php program is running in a tab of a konsole window, there is a warning that the tab is still active; this message is non-responsive, and so are all konsole windows.
The apps in konsole appear to keep on working, but the display is not refreshed anymore.
Somehow, the konsole windows are not independent, even on a 64 bit system...

You can configure Konsole to use a separate process for each new launch, check Configure Konsole > General tab.

But the message could indeed be a non-modal dialog.

I cannot find that option. (Menu is in Dutch)
Documentation states:

Since KDE4 all the tabs use the same process ID. This has the side-effect that if one tab’s process
has issues, all the other tabs may experience issues as well.
This is most noticeable when a command that connects to an external device or system (ssh, nfs) has issues.

I didn't realize you were using KDE4/Konsole4 - those old versions are not supported. The newer KF5/Konsole5 versions have this ability to separate processes.
Comment 4 baarsrj 2018-02-15 18:48:59 UTC
I am not; it is KDE 5.5 on Kubuntu 16.04.
But documentation said 'since KDE 4'
But I cannot find the item to set it to separate processes.
I will add a picture of the Configure - general tab.

I believe 17.04 has this new settings. It looks like you are using an earlier version - Help->About Konsole will show version

Old software strikes again! In the future please see https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Step_2:_Make_sure_it_hasn.27t_already_been_fixed

I do understand the remark, but I think it is a bit unfair, since 16.04 is LTS, and an update was not offered by Discover. But okay, machines are updating now. Thanks for telling it has been corrected.
