browsing in google chrome, and hit alt-tab to switch to another application.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

a little more information, this has been starting to in 17.10... I am not sure exactly on which version of plasma, but before 17.10 it was ok.

also, I am running dual monitor setup, but this happens also when I'm using only one monitor.

Crash in nvidia driver. Nothing we can do. Please report to NVIDIA.
