On the newest AppImage Kdenlive doesn't safe any settings. When you change for example your language, or the design, and reopen kdenlive everything is on "factory settings" again :/
It seems you have some “left over from a previous Kdenlive. Rename/delete kdenliverc see here: https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Configuration.

delete this folder: $home/.local/share/kxmlgui5/kdenlive (contains the toolbar configuration) and this: $home/.config/kdenlive-appimagerc Run the Appimage from the terminal (press CTRL + ALT + T). Move to the AppImage folder and run the .AppImage: ./Kdenlive*.AppImage
