Description Brennan Kinney 2018-01-27 05:53:30 UTC
Settings -> Configure -> Collections -> Add Collection
"Choose the folder containing your collection" dialog

Doesn't appear to be native KDE dialog, like the one from Import -> Remote Storage -> Load/save list buttons

The available options are not the same, and the amount of places listed on the sidebar is considerably less.

KDE is not the finality. DK run on Windows and MAcOS too.

We want a file dialog which do not crash DK. We want a application working properly. The native file dialog based on GTK desktop crash violently under Ubuntu.

So we swith to Qt5 file dialog by default and provide an option to Setup/Misc to switch to native File Dialog if necessary.

Sorry, I'm confused.

Despite what you say, there are two different file browse dialogs present as mentioned in my report. They may look the same on other OS/DE, but on KDE they are visually/functionally different. Can you explain why this is? Should they not both be using the same one?

The import dialog is the appropriate one that I'd like to the collections dialog use as well as it's the expected native type of dialog on KDE.

The remote storage plugin always uses the native file dialog. For digiKam you can activate the native file dialog under Settings Miscellaneous.

Ok thank you for clarifying that, I misunderstood Gilles when he pointed that out. I didn't seem to see this option when doing some queries in google(although Digikam docs were appeaering as results).

Another point : The Remote Storage plugin will be ported to pure Qt5 with 6.0.0. So this problem will not exist anymore in the future.
