Description ThomasvonderElbe 2018-01-18 07:08:42 UTC
If I create a mouse gesture it leads to a strange behaviour of the scroll function.

When I do the following:
1. I scroll down in dolphin.
2. I press the right mouse button (which is the gesture mouse button for me) and release it. (just press, no gesture) ... the context menu opens.
3. I press the left mouse button somewhere in the same window and release it ... the context menu closes.
4. I use the scroll wheel to scroll down one notch ...

And what then happens is:
Dolphin doesn't scroll down but instead scrolls up to the very top!
Very disturbing!

As soon as the gestures are disabled, the behaviour returns to normal.
The same happens if I just install Easystroke. Just the installation (without any gesture created) leads to the same problem.

Does anyone have an idea what's going on here?

I love dolphin and use it for many years. But I need the gesture functionality. I would hate to need to leave dolphin just because of this! Please help!

The same problem occurs with Kate, Konsole and several other kde-apps, BTW. So the problem seems to lie deeper. I posted the bug here because I didn't know where else. And because dolphin for me is the main issue.

The 4 steps above are just a reliable way to reproduce the bug.
But the bug appears much more often and in more common situations.

This issue has been moved to kcm_khotkeys.
I just want to mention that IMO the problem could very well be with the code, that handles the scrollbars of the new Dolphin, Kate, Konsole, etc.

Because the gestures did work perfectly with the old Dolphin, Kate, etc.
And it still works perfectly with numerous other applications with scrollbars (Thunar, Geany, SpaceFM, Konqueror, Firefox, ...)

As I suggested:

It turned out to be Qt-Bug:
