Description David 2018-01-17 09:42:22 UTC
In a laptop, when having multiple screens enabled and the laptop's own screen disabled, at each startup the laptop's screen resolution is reset to the maximum one available instead of the resolution I assign to it within plasma settings.

Hi David,

Thanks for the bug-report!

Could you please give the latest Plasma version a try? We have fixed a number of bugs in this area and your problem might already be addressed with these changes. An easy way to test the latest version is KDE's neon git/unstable, which allows you to run today's code and test.

If your problem persists, could you please collect and attach the information outlined in this wiki page to this bug report?

Thanks for helping us to improve Plasma!

Unfortunately I can't try the newer version. This is the setup I have at my office's computer, on which I cannot install KDE Neon or build the latest KDE ecosystem from source, and don't have the necessary hardware at home.

In that case, this bug-report isn't very useful. We had a ton of fixes which could affect this, and with only one system showing the problem and no debugging information, this bug isn't very useful to track and cover up other, more useful information.

Thanks for the report, however. Please let me know when / if you can try a newer version of supply the needed information, closed bugreports are easily reopened.

Small update: with a newer version (5.11.4), it fails to even change the resolution of the laptop screen, i.e. I click it, set it to something other than the maximum, and it instantly goes back to the maximum resolution. Would information related to that appear in kscreen.log?
