Description Shriramana Sharma 2018-01-12 16:00:53 UTC
Hello I'm using the default KDE 5 that came with Kubuntu Xenial and previously I was using KDE 4 on Kubuntu Trusty.

Both in Trusty and Xenial I observe the behaviour that under System Settings > Keyboard > Layout, the "Main Layout Count" has a minimum of 2 and I cannot reduce the number below that. I am using 8 layouts (the maximum) in total.

In the first place it is not clear what the Main Layout is, but I see only those layouts when I am at the lock screen so probably that is what that means? Anyhow, my ASCII password is enterable only by my first layout as my higher layouts are for various Indic scripts. Thus I would much prefer to set "Main Layouts" to 1 but this is not possible for me.

When my screen gets locked if I have been using one of the higher layouts, that stays selected at the lock screen and I am having to manually switch back to the first layout (and even the shortcut is not available so I have to do this using the mouse). Thus I would prefer to have only one layout as main so that this will be the only one active automatically at the lock screen.

I am presuming this is the only purpose of the "Main layout count" as I have never encountered any other occasion where I see any difference.

Please make it so that I can select only 1 main layout.
