Description Hendrik 2018-01-12 09:30:18 UTC
After the latest update of KDE Neon (5.11.5) I get a login screen (non-graphical). After logging in I enter the command ´startkde' and then I get the message 'Display is not set or cannot connect to the x server'.
On entering śtartx' the screen turns black while showing the mousepointer.
It also showed the KDE logo for a short while when turning black.
I suspect it is a problem with the video card. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti. Please don;t tell me to buy another one.
My system is AMD 6-core.
Advice from your side please.

run startplasma manually and get the output

If it's a driver issue we don't touch those in Neon but that seems unlikely if ksplash is showing

Good day to you mr. Riddell,

I've updated the system again by pkcon refresh; pkcon update.

Now an error showed:

(pkcon: 1558) - GLib-CRITICAL **: Source ID 111 was not found when attempting to remove it

Might be a clue to my problem.

At startup I get a black screen showing 'KDE 5.11.5' and a progressbar at the bottom runing from left to right.

After that a logon prompt also in a black screen.

By the way: am I the only one having this problem?

Kind regards,

H. Rozenveld
